Long Beach Information

Long Beach is a large city located in southern California. It is situated in Los Angeles County, only about 20 miles south of downtown Los Angeles and borders Orange County on the south.

Long Beach is the top 50 cities in the United States in terms of size, and one of the largest in California. There are approximately 500,000 people residing there, and ranks second in size when comparing other cities in the Los Angeles metropolitan area.

Long Beach is well known for its port. It is one of the world's largest shipping ports in the world. It has a large oil industry, which is located underground and offshore.

There are a number of large manufacturers in Long Beach, including aircraft, automobile parts, electronic and audiovisual equipment, and home furnishings. Some major corporations include: Epson America, Molina Healthcare, SCAN Health Plan, Boeing, Verizon, Gulfstream Aerospace, and The Bragg Companies .

There are also a number of local hospitals, including: Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, Veterans Affairs Medical Center, St. Mary Medical center, and Pacific Hospital of Long Beach. Other major employers include: Long Beach Unified School District, City of Long Beach, California State University, Long Beach, Long Beach City College, and the United State Postal Service.
